It seems that women are conquests and the fact that I deny him makes me more desirable. If I were to give in he'd just take what he wants and then forget about me within two weeks.

I know his type. I try to avoid those. Fickle.

I agree with anonymous, except I am not afraid to state my identity, and I don't use psychological insults to make my point.

I used to say if Bush was re-elected I'd leave the country to establish myself in a location where the society is heading in a direction I agree with for myself and my future children. That was four years ago.

Today I feel that if the citizens of this country who actually care about it leave because of one election then whatever progress the United States has made in this campaign will be lost for the next.

Imagine that a woman and a half-black man actually campaigned and that a half-black man is a serious candidate for president. I believe our country has never seen progress like this.

I am proud to be an American citizen, and while frequently shamed by the various errors of our government and its people, I still tell people when they ask my heritage, "I am American. I was born here" and unless they probe further they do not discover that my parents are Cuban.

I have seen the product of bad government, I have been to Cuba. I have made the lines for bread with my aunt and eaten the liquid "food" the government distributes (which is completely inedible). I have family that was imprisoned after serving in the Cuban military for saying something that could be interpreted as un-supportive to the Fidel Regime. I am a 23 year witness to the trauma of fear of one's government (my parents and their family and friends). I have first generation immigrant friends who had to start their lives from scratch when they came to this country at 12, 16, and 19 years old and hear their stories that inform Cuba has not seen improvements for 50+ years. Listening to cell phone conversations is nothing compared to the violation of rights that continue on next door.

Whatever the outcome of this election, I have every intention of remaining in this country and making the efforts I can to improve our state as an individual. One person may mean nothing in the greater scheme but if the majority of people did the same then ...
